The Undisputed King of Clay

The hand of God played a huge part in handing Nadal his 8th Italian Open on Sunday.

Youngster Sascha Zverev was on a roll and was well on his way to defending the Masters he clinched last year with straight sets win over Novak Djokovic.

But Providence stepped in...The Heavens opened up and the match was halted at 6-1,1-6,2-3.

The first set had been all Nadal as he almost seemed to be serving the youngster a Masterclass in Winning. He dominated the first step and the final looked to be over before it actually began.

But something switched in Zverev as he stepped on court for the 2nd set, he had renewed energy and what we saw was the stuff Grand Slam Winners are made of. He was close to serving Nadal a bagel and took the set comfortably.

The 3rd set started off with an early break for Zverev, which he consolidated on his service. Even though Nadal was still in it, he trailed 1-3 before the first showers came down. By 2-3, the game had to be suspended.

And that was all the kismet Nadal needed, he went into Zen mode and came out after the 50mins rest a BEAST.

Congratulations Rafa!!!

He regains the World Number One spot.

Who can stop him in June when he defends his French Open title? The only candidates IMO: Zverev, Thiem, Del Potro and Injury(?).

xx

B!
